Director's Corner
Dear MBD Families & Friends,
I am honored to begin the 2024-2025 school year in my new role as the Director of Student Services and Early Childhood Education. With this new role, I have become responsible for the day-to-day operations at Martha B. Day Elementary School and am filled with excitement and appreciation for the ability to become the educational leader in this building. Prior to joining the Bloomingdale School Community in August 2021, I was a special education teacher working primarily in the self-contained setting with students with autism. My experiences in special education, both as a teacher and an administrator, has developed my core belief in the importance of educating the whole child. In order for students to become successful in school, they need to be provided with a character education that prepares them with the tools necessary to become active members of the 21st century world. These tools include understanding that students need to feel safe, be confident, and be excited about learning. The focus at MBD during this school year will be to enhance the character education with a monthly focus, classroom lessons and activities for the home, and positive reinforcement for the development of these character traits in each individual student.
The main catalyst to the success of our students is the collaborative relationship between school and home. I believe in authentic communication, team problem-solving, and emphasizing the focus that we are all aiming towards the same goals. Myself, along with our dedicated teachers and support staff, will focus on the acknowledgement of small achievements, the encouragement of finding learning opportunities for growth in everyday occurrences, and the continued push to become good human beings. I encourage our families and friends to ask questions, become involved, and work together with MBD to create the best learning environment for the academic, social, and emotional success of all our children.
Please feel comfortable to reach out via phone call or email at any time. Thank you for trusting myself and the staff at MBD with your young learners.
Respectfully,
Ms. Alli Ariemma
